Is Freewire Accelerated Dial really Free?
Yes, absolutely. You will not be asked to give us any credit card or bank details. The only thing you pay for is the local rate phone call to access the service (as you would with any other Internet Service Provider). These calls will show up on your phone bill as a local 0845 call.
How does Freewire make money ?
Freewire receives a small cut from the telephone company that handles our calls. This does not affect the amount you pay for the call. You still pay the same local rate, and can receive the same discounts from your telephone company.
Can Freewire cope with demand?
A free Internet service is very desirable and so demand will always be great. However, both Freewire and their telephone operator have made significant investment to ensure that there are always sufficient modems available and capacity on the network. Our success depends on your satisfaction with the service.
What about technical support?
Because we don't charge a subscription fee we cannot provide free telephone-based technical support. We do however provide free support by email. Telephone technical support is available and charged at
10p per minute. See our support section for more details.
Will Freewire still be around tomorrow?
Our service is backed by some of the biggest names in the industry and we have made significant investment to bring you this service. The Internet has developed into a true mass market service and we believe it should be free for everyone.

Why should I choose the clientless version?

accelerated dial-up provides improved web browsing due to
caching, compression and optimisation of graphics. All
optimisation occurs automatically to provide you with an

ensure a faster browsing experience every time you
dial-up. Simply change your dial up number to 0845 638 9608.
Why should I choose the client version?
In addition to the standard
optimisation tools, the client version also compresses
downloaded files, POP3 email and attachments. You can also

0845 638 9609.

operating system you are using) and change the 0845 number
you are currently dialling to 0845 638 9608.
Can I set a rule to exclude some websites from optimisation?
Freewire Accelerated dial-up can be set to exclude
various IP addresses from optimising any graphics to
ensure that you always view pictures at the quality
intended. This can be done on the client version only,
and you will need to know the IP
addresses of the websites you would to exclude. Open the
client and select Options/Advanced. Then select
Addresses/Tab/Custom. Click New and enter a name or
reference for the website, followed by the IP address and
address mask.
